MONTHLY MENTAL HEALTH SESSIONS

Bringing Mental Health Conversations to Communities. Mental health awareness should not happen only when there is a crisis. Anirvedha conducts monthly mental health awareness sessions for groups and communities where access to mental health facilities and professionals is limited.

Each month’s session is aligned with the annual theme of World Mental Health Day, allowing communities to engage with contemporary mental health concerns through simple, relevant and meaningful conversations.

The sessions are designed to make psychological knowledge understandable and useful – without medical jargon and without stigma.

SPECIAL SANTA

Giving With Dignity. Celebrating Every Family. The Special Santa Initiative is one of Anirvedha’s most cherished community programmes. Every year, we identify underprivileged children and families, particularly families of children with special needs, who may be experiencing financial and social challenges.

With the support of generous donors and well-wishers, we create customized care packages containing essential items such as:
Basic necessities | Children’s requirements | Household essentials | Gifts
But Special Santa is about more than giving a package.
It is about remembering families who are often forgotten.
Once the families are identified and the kits are prepared, the Anirvedha team personally visits their homes and delivers the support.

This direct approach allows us to go beyond a donation drive. It gives us an opportunity to meet families where they are, understand their circumstances and share a moment of dignity, warmth and celebration.

CHRISTMAS DRIVE: SPREADING JOY AND HOPE SINCE 2021

Special Santa — The Annual Christmas Drive

Giving With Dignity | Celebrating Every Family

The Special Santa initiative is one of Anirvedha’s most cherished community programmes. Spreading joy, love, and hope since 2021, this annual drive provides essential commodities, dignity, and holiday cheer to underprivileged children with special needs and their families who face severe financial and social challenges.

Our Process: From Identification to Doorstep Delivery

  • Identifying Beneficiaries: We collaborate with the Block Education Officer (BEO) each year to identify families and children who need support the most.
  • Fundraising & Community Support: Generous donors and well-wishers contribute funds, enabling us to procure and assemble each customized care package.
  • Carefully Curated Kits: Packages contain both basic necessities and small delights, including:
    1. Household Essentials & Necessities: Basic groceries, sanitary essentials, bedsheets, blankets, and pillows.
    1. Children’s Requirements & Gifts: Tiffin boxes, water bottles, sweets, and holiday gifts.
  • Personal Doorstep Delivery: Rather than holding a generic distribution event, the Anirvedha team personally delivers each kit to the child’s home. We brave challenging terrains—traversing unpaved areas, crossing railway tracks, and climbing hillocks—to ensure every family feels seen, valued, and remembered.
  • Impact over the Years: Since its inception, the drive has steadily expanded its reach to touch hundreds of lives:
  • 2021: 11 children supported (Inaugural year)
  • 2022: 46 children reached
  • 2023: 37 children assisted across multiple regions
  • 2024–2026: Sustained impact reaching 50 children each year

Looking Ahead

The Special Santa initiative is more than a donation drive—it is a movement of empathy and warmth. Beyond receiving a package, families share a moment of true connection, leaving children beaming with joy and volunteers renewed with purpose. Anirvedha remains dedicated to expanding our community involvement and ensuring every child with special needs experiences the holiday season with dignity and hope.

FREE COMMUNITY COUNSELLING

Taking Professional Support Into Public Institutions. Access to counselling should not be determined by financial circumstances. Recognizing the mental health needs of young people in higher education, Anirvedha initiated a completely free counselling facility at a Government College on a pilot basis.

The initiative provided students with access to professional counselling without financial barriers.

The Pilot

As part of the pilot initiative, students were provided with free counselling sessions to address psychological, emotional, academic, interpersonal and other concerns that may affect their well-being and functioning. The initiative demonstrated the importance of making professional psychological support available within educational environments, particularly where students may otherwise have limited access to mental health services.

From Pilot to Continuing Support

Following the pilot, Anirvedha is working towards continuing the initiative on a regular basis, creating a sustainable model of accessible mental health support within government educational institutions.

Our vision is simple:
A student should not have to choose between seeking help and being able to afford it.

Through initiatives like this, we hope to build a model where counselling becomes a normal, accessible and stigma-free component of student well-being.

The pilot project initiated a structured counseling program at Government Pre-University College, Hampankatta starting from September 17, 2024, to February 7, 2025. The programme aimed to address students’ psychosocial and academic challenges through individual and group counseling sessions conducted twice weekly. Over the 21-day intervention period, the programme provided counseling services to 65 students, with follow-up sessions to ensure sustained support. The programme showed tangible improvements in student behavior, academic engagement, and emotional well-being.
